What You can do for the Environment Environmental Working Group: Public Interest Watchdog Greenwashing Index: Not sure if the ad you’re viewing promoting a green product is as green as it says it is? Then judge for yourself by checking its Greenwashing Index (GWI) score. The Greenwashing Index provides user generated critiques of a company’s ad that promotes it’s "greenness" and rates the ad on a scale of 1 to 5 to determine how likely it is to be greenwash or not. Just as in golf, the higher the score, the worse the ad does on the index. This website is promoted by EnviroMedia Social Marketing and the University of Oregon.
